Ohio’s Premier Advocate & Resource for Large Energy Users
For more than 30 years, Ohio Energy Leadership Council has helped energy-intensive enterprises in Ohio shape energy policies and laws and advocate for reasonable electricity and natural gas utility rates that impact members’ operational costs and efficiency.
Members include many of the largest employers and economic leaders in Ohio, including industrial companies, manufacturers, commercial enterprises, educational institutions, retailers, technology companies, data centers, and other enterprises whose competitiveness and efficiency are determined by reliable and affordable energy.
OELC includes members specializing in:
- Processing chemicals for the agriculture, food, and pharmaceutical industries;
- Manufacturing materials and equipment used in automobile and construction industries;
- Operating large data processing centers;
- Powering the campuses of Ohio’s largest educational institutions;
- Providing retail services throughout Ohio;
- Refining petroleum into essential products used in modern society;
- Fueling the recycling industry, including scrap steel and more.
OELC members are vitally important contributors to Ohio’s economy, collectively representing more than $3 billion in annual energy expenditures, and consuming over 4 billion kWh in electricity in Ohio per year, or equivalent to the annual electricity usage of nearly 400,000 residential homes.
OELC’s mission is to represent its members in legislative, regulatory, and ratemaking matters relating to energy supply, delivery, reliability, and cost, including through lobbying at the Ohio Statehouse and legal representation before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.
